What is Balancer 15?
Balancer 15 is a passive investment strategy that tracks the performance of the fifteen largest crypto assets. The strategy is weighted by market capitalisation: crypto assets with a larger market value get a larger weighting in the portfolio, within predefined maximum and minimum allocations. This way, you follow the largest crypto assets in the market without having to do the research yourself.
How does it work?
Price movements can shift market capitalisations and, with that, the weightings in the portfolio. New crypto assets may also enter the top 15, while others drop out. Each month, we rebalance the portfolio back to the current top 15 and their corresponding weightings. This keeps the diversification intact and prevents any single position from dominating the portfolio. We only execute transactions when needed to restore the target weighting.

Each month, we review the top 15 crypto assets based on market capitalisation. We scale down crypto assets that have dropped out of the top 15, new entrants take their place, and we adjust all weightings to reflect current market capitalisations. This keeps the portfolio true to its core principle: tracking the breadth of the market.

We invest a deposit based on the allocation in effect at that moment. At the next monthly rebalancing, we bring everything back in line with the current weighting based on market capitalization.

At the next rebalancing, we'll scale down that position, and the new entrant takes its place. In the meantime, the existing allocation stays as it is. This avoids unnecessary transactions and keeps fees low.

Balancer 15 follows a fixed, rules-based allocation. We don't actively respond to market developments. This means fewer transactions, which keeps fees low. Active strategies try to beat a benchmark; this strategy follows the market. What's more, unlike some actively managed strategies, Balancer 15 never scales out into euros, for example, in a declining market. You always remain fully invested in crypto assets.

Yes, stablecoins and certain projects may be excluded. Stablecoins are pegged to the value of a fiat currency such as the dollar and don't move with the crypto market, so investing in them doesn't provide exposure to market developments. Other crypto assets may be excluded due to operational limitations, such as insufficient liquidity, or because of laws and regulations, such as a ban on trading privacy coins.

With Balancer 15, you spread your investment across the fifteen largest crypto assets, weighted by market capitalisation.
